Quick Product Change is a value added technology
developed by StackTeck to offer customers lean tooling
solutions to conventional molds. StackTeck´s QPC design
allows molders to switch a given family of products
within the same mold/machine, very quickly, with minimal
downtime.
Molders can quickly change over core and cavity module
sets without changing over the entire mold. The QPC mold
frame stays installed on the molding press. The stacks
are built into removable QPC modules for ease of
handling.
Incorporating this design reduces mold change time from 6-8 hrs
to < 45 minutes for a 2 Level QPC
mold.
With QPC technology, molders can respond quickly to
changes in customer demands by running various products
of both high and low volumes in efficient, high
cavitation, multi level stack mold frames. This
technology also helps reduce operating costs by
minimizing inventory levels. QPC molders can produce
only what is required by their customer, creating a PULL
scheduling scenario.
QPC also allows savings on future new product start-ups,
as no mold frame cost is required. This can represent up
to 50% of the cost of a new mold.
